Rouen Cathédrale

The staff were super nice, but the breakfast was a disaster: old fruit, cheap cheese slices, no variety and no protein. The room was small, and the bathroom was especially cramped. It’s central, though the neighborhood didn’t feel safe at night. My worst ibis experience. I won’t be back.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the range of bread, and the cathedral and old town are close enough to make this a handy base for exploring Rouen. Our compact room was nicely styled and opened onto a large balcony overlooking the Seine and the Archive Tower, which was marking its fiftieth birthday. The bed was comfy, the shower had good pressure, the WiFi worked, and there was a kettle. We could have used more storage shelves for clothes and a bedside table on the left. The welcome was friendly when we checked into this 1950s hotel.

Nothing fancy, but it was clean and friendly. The hotel is functional rather than charming. Breakfast can be a bit awkward when it gets busy, though the freshly squeezed orange juice is a nice morning lift.

The bathroom was awkwardly placed, and the bed had a nightstand and outlets on only one side. The elevator was out of order, and our key cards kept failing. I’d suggest staying somewhere else.
