Les Chambres De Rougemont

A quiet, comfortable stay in a lovely French village. The apartment felt very private.

The room was spacious, the bedding excellent, and the property very quiet. There’s a separate toilet and a decent bathroom, and we’d recommend staying here despite the breakfast. It felt more like a budget hotel spread: two little jam pots, two small slices of bread (we got more after asking), a croissant, a pain au chocolat, concentrated juice, coffee and tea. I’d have preferred a homemade sweet and savory breakfast with real juice, good bread and quality local products, as you often get at a bed and breakfast. There’s no shared dining option. We stayed one night.

We found bed bugs in the beds when we arrived at about 10 pm one evening, so we left straight away. The owner acted as if they knew nothing and refunded us without asking questions. Reviews from five years earlier had already mentioned the issue in room #8, yet this person is still offering stays. That’s shameful, given how easily bed bugs can spread to your home. Avoid at all costs!

We arrived at 7:00 PM for a booking in room #8 for three people, from Friday, February 10th to Saturday, February 11th, 2023. By around 10:30 that night, bed bugs were swarming across the double bed and walls. The owner acted like he didn’t know about it. I’m going to write to the health inspector for the relevant municipality to report this hygiene problem. Warning, run away, there were dozens of bed bugs!
