February turned out to be a lovely time for the ochre trail: cool weather, few visitors, and a peaceful atmosphere. The paths were easy and pleasant, and the winter light still brought out the vivid colours. We could take our time and really absorb the landscape. The trail tells a fascinating part of local history. Ochre mining shaped the area for centuries and once mattered greatly to the regional economy. The former quarries feel almost otherworldly, with intense reds, oranges, and yellows created by natural pigments in the soil. Nearby Roussillon is charming too, its ochre-toned houses echoing the trail's colours. The village and walk make a great half-day outing. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone interested in Provence's geology and cultural history.

The entrance fee is very reasonable, and it's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. Les Sentiers des Ocres has beautiful, well-laid-out trails with lovely colours and views throughout. The walk is easy and accessible for all fitness levels.

The walk itself is easy, though finding a parking spot may be the tricky part. Entry is fairly priced, and there's interesting history about the area. The stone and sand have amazing colours, and the trees are fascinating too, some growing at incredible angles. I'd suggest the longer route if you can manage the extra walking. Afterwards, it's back to tourist life with souvenirs and a meal at a bar or restaurant.

The trail was fairly short and easy for us, and it cost 3.5 euros per person. It's a beautiful walk through a former ochre mining area. One section climbs quite steeply on steps, then another drops steeply over sandy ochre ground.

It felt more like a bush walk than a place with much to see. The vegetation and ground reminded me a lot of Australia, which probably explains why I didn't find it very interesting. It might have been a decent hike if the 3.5 euro entry fee hadn't put me off.
