Family Golf Hotel

Our host laid on an excellent breakfast at 6:45 a.m., just what we needed before setting out on the first 55-mile leg of the Velodyssee. The owner and manager is a charming woman who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We were using the hotel at the start and end of a five-day cycle from Royan to Biarritz, so getting the timing right around the ferry mattered a lot. The hotel is right on the seafront, with great views to the south. It was in very good decorative order and very clean. We could store our bikes in a locked garage and leave our car on the street for the week.

Traveling on my own, I booked a single room. It wasn't very big and had no terrace, but it was really clean and I could see the sea from the window. The pretty coastal path is right in front of the hotel, and the service was great. Thank you!

The team were welcoming from the moment we arrived and showed us to the room, explaining how everything worked. When I asked whether smoking was allowed on the balcony, the staff member laughed and pointed out that the notice did allow it, just not inside. There was an ashtray behind the sign. Everyone spoke English and was happy to chat with me in my pidgin French without seeming frustrated. I can't thank them enough, they really make the place. The whole hotel was spotless, from the terrace to our room and balcony. The balcony view was fantastic, and we didn't want to leave. The hotel encourages guests to use it and even offers 24-hour room service for drinks. We ordered the continental breakfast to our room, and there was more than enough for two. We also bought a picture by one of the local artists from the shop on our way out. The beach is just 30 seconds away. Honestly, this hotel deserves more than three stars, and we'll stay here whenever we're in Royan.

We had a lovely family room and a good breakfast. The staff were fantastic, especially the woman at reception. She was kind and helpful, and booked a lovely restaurant for my husband's birthday.
