Les Couesnons

The food was what bothered us most. We tried five different dishes and none scored above a 3 for me; they were all small portions, too. The four tiny pieces on the cheese plate were almost comical. It was a 6 euro plate, and I have the recipe. To be clear, I found the food unpleasant, not inedible: for me, 1 means not tasty, 2 means okay, 3 good, 4 very good, and 5 amazing. The waiter only asked about the snails after we had finished. I said honestly that I hadn't enjoyed them much, though trying them was interesting and I might have them again. The service was just ordinary at first. I chose not to tell the waiter the other dishes weren't good, and the owner's reply later confirmed to me that this was the right call. After that response, I lowered the service from 3 stars to 1, and the overall rating from 2 to 1. It was a very hot day and the inside was hot too. A small child cried continuously for ten minutes. We'd had a lovely day at the beach and were in a great mood beforehand, but left feeling awful. The price was affordable, though the day before we paid less for a delicious dinner with generous portions in Rouen. I haven't written a bad review before, but I couldn't stay quiet.
