The breakfast was generous and really good, served in a lovely vaulted room looking out over a huge park and its majestic trees. I’d happily come back. Staying in this medieval castle felt timeless, and the rooms were comfortable and cool, which was just right on hot days.

The owner was warm and welcoming, which helped, but I still can’t recommend this guest room. It costs more than what’s offered, and the photos don’t match what we found. The room is spacious, yet run-down, cold, and musty as soon as you walk in. With a setting that promising, I expected a much better place. Too bad.

Breakfast was very good, but the meal was so skimpy that we had trouble digesting the €35 charge. The setting itself was pleasant and relaxing. Still, at the end of September the room had no heating and was absolutely freezing. The owner was very pleasant, though she had apparently forgotten to mention that there was electric heating in the room.

The breakfast was very good and generous, and the price felt like good value. The castle and the room were both beautiful. The owner was kind and made us feel welcome. Thanks again for the hospitality, I’d definitely recommend it.

We’d booked well in advance through a SMARTBOX package, then the owner or a colleague called to say there were no rooms for our date. She said an email had already been sent, but nothing had reached us, and she was rude on the phone. I suppose renting to other guests at a higher price was more appealing than taking the SmartBox booking. It’s unfortunate, since we had to scramble for a backup place.
