Auberge Saint Jacques

We stopped in for coffee and a snack. The drinks and ice cream were good, but the "Café gourmand" was a letdown: an espresso with three small desserts that tasted store-bought and not fresh. Service didn't seem very interested in making our visit enjoyable. WiFi was available, prices were reasonable, the toilets were clean, and they accepted cards for purchases over 10€.

Our room was clean and comfortable, though it had only a tiny window and a vented skylight. The hostess was attentive and helpful, juggling the bar, restaurant, and reception. Very good service. I'd recommend it.

On the last day of my mini Camino, I stopped for coffee to warm up on a cold 30 Sep. The proprietress spoke great English and was very helpful. Once she'd confirmed there was no bus back to Le Puy, she helped me write a hitchhiking sign and called Flo Taxi as a backup. I couldn't get a ride by 11am, so I took the taxi. Thanks, Madame Proprietress!

The manager was so helpful and welcoming. We stayed two nights while doing Camino Frances, and it was a lovely place to rest. The local castle and waterfall were very nice, too.
