We felt very comfortable for the whole week in this beautiful house, set in one of France’s prettiest villages. It’s furnished to a high standard, and the kitchen has everything you need. There are two outdoor levels, with a table and chairs upstairs and the pool on the lower deck. The pool is a good size and has the same depth at both ends. Highly recommended.

The Tuesday market was a highlight, with a live band, food stalls and what seemed like lots of local families enjoying a friendly evening together. The village is gorgeous and welcoming, and we loved spending time there. It was a wonderful week for all of us: the kids were happy in the pool, while the grown-ups enjoyed delicious wine on the terrace. L’Ermitage itself is beautiful, with lovely rooms decorated so thoughtfully and tastefully. The pool, deck and views are glorious too. A fantastic house and village for our first trip back to the Dordogne in twenty years.

The weather was poor, so we couldn’t make use of the lovely pool or barbecue. Even so, this was a comfortable holiday home with everything well equipped, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

We had a relaxing two weeks in the Hermitage in June and July. The little village is quiet and makes a great base for exploring a region full of interesting places to visit. The villa was clean, fresh and comfortable, with good furnishings and equipment, and the pool was just right. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

Since 2014, our group of four adults has spent a week each summer at Les Maisons de l'Abbaye, except during the pandemic years. Sometimes one or two more adults have joined us, and this year we stayed at LaForge. Each of the three houses has worked well as a base for visiting the sights of the Perigord Noir, as well as enjoying the calm and character of Saint Amand de Coly. The stone houses are tastefully furnished and equipped, with spacious shared areas, gourmet kitchens, laundry facilities, and bedrooms that each have a full en suite bathroom. Each also has an outdoor patio and private swimming pool. We highly recommend staying at Les Maisons de l'Abbaye for a classic countryside holiday in the South of France. George W.
