Le Noirlac

We booked a night because the hotel said it had good chargers for our electric car. Once we arrived, we were told they only worked from 8pm. When we asked again at 9pm, the same woman said they didn't work and that the hotel already knew, but hadn't told us because we'd have left. It felt like they lied to keep us there, and the charging problem left us in a difficult spot getting home. The restaurant wasn't much better: the menu was just one sheet with only three or four options, so there was hardly anything to choose from. Not a good stay, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The place has a very artistic feel, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the pool was clean too. The staff were friendly, but when I asked for help with the WiFi, I was suddenly told to wait aside while another couple checked out first. We had booked six rooms for two nights and expected better treatment. I left. My throat was sore when we left, which I think was from breathing in all the chemicals used while the rooms were being prepared. I saw a cleaner spray air freshener into a room just before closing it after cleaning. The smell and chemical load in the hallway were quite shocking. The tennis court is also a disgrace, especially since they promote “piscine-tennis” as a competitive feature.

We had a great meal for my birthday at Hôtel Le Noirlac. The meat was excellent, everything tasted delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The tables were set by the hotel's swimming pool, with a big grassy field behind it, which made for a charming setting. My 2.5 year old son enjoyed having a small playground at the far end of the pool, although it was nerve-racking to watch him keep running back and forth past the pool edge. We'd been struggling to find a restaurant near my parents' summer house that suited us. A lot of places had uninteresting food, weren't cosy, were closed for no clear reason, or were so popular that getting a table didn't seem worth the effort. Then we spotted Hôtel Le Noirlac on Google Maps and saw their weekly BBQ night fell on my birthday. I'm a big BBQ fan, so we gave it a try, and I'm glad we did. We had a really lovely evening and meal. I can highly recommend it.

A very good hotel in St Amand Montrond, with comfortable, clean rooms and an excellent bar and restaurant. There are two conference rooms for business use. Highly recommended.
