La Bruyère aux Lamas

The llamas quietly grazing in the meadow were a highlight, along with the donkey, sheep, and the Groenendael dog, who was as welcoming as the hosts. The gîtes were spotless, and everything was there to make us comfortable and feel at home. It's a remarkable setting, tucked away at the end of the road, with no roads beyond it, the Way of St. James, green wooded hills, and a breathtaking view over Roanne and the plain. The hosts are a lovely couple with two equally lovely teenagers, and they made us feel like old friends. The Gîtes de la Bruyère aux Lamas have become one of the best parts of our stays in the Roannais region.

We only spent a few days at this gîte while passing through for work, but the owners' kindness really stood out. The place was peaceful, with a panoramic view, and had everything to feel at home. If you're nearby and want some quiet, La Bruyère aux Lamas is a good place to stay. After coming back tired with a sore back, the spa was such a relief. The gîte was clean, the bedding was impeccable and the mattress very comfortable, and there was plenty of crockery. Everything was provided. We'll definitely stay again. A big thank you to you both for making such a welcoming place.

The cottage is in a good location, though getting to the house is a bit tricky. It's spacious, with comfortable beds, and adjoins another cottage as well as the owners' home. The nearby swimming pool isn't ideal if you're hoping to nap on the lawn. The llamas, donkey, cat, dog, sheep, and goat are all unobtrusive and very pleasant.

The view is extraordinary, and the outside area is lovely. The cottage is charming too, and as always, we were warmly welcomed. I highly recommend it!
