ACE Hôtel Troyes

Honestly, I don't see how this place gets called a 3 star hotel. It felt just like a Motel 6. Don't be taken in by the reviews.

The rooms were fine for a quick stop, with clean bathrooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast was good value too. We arrived late, and Stephen at reception was really courteous and helpful. The woman working in the morning was also kind, though her English was limited, so we managed with Google Translate. One room had an air conditioning problem, but Stephen was flexible and helped us get settled for the night. I'd recommend the hotel.

The rooms are the one thing that makes the price reasonable, but the stay felt too expensive for just an overnight stop. Guest service wasn't available. The parking camera, if it was working, couldn't have captured a clear image because the parking lights are off at night; only the building is lit. Shopping nearby is limited and closes early, and the restaurants were mediocre. The bakery around the corner was the only useful thing about the location. I wouldn't count on breakfast, safety, or customer service here.

The staff were kind and very helpful, and having locked parking was a real plus with a packed car. There are two restaurants right next door, which made dinner easy, and breakfast was lovely. It's a good little stop on the way south, generally great value. The air conditioning wasn't working, perhaps because it was early April, and I didn't feel safe leaving the windows open overnight since there was outside access. That made the room too hot.
