L'Est-capade

The bathroom was tiny, especially for what we paid, since we expected a much more luxurious hotel. The room was very, very small too, even though the photos made it look large. When I asked about the pool, I was told it wasn't available, although the website says it is. They only provide breakfast, no other meals. I strongly advise against staying here. Don't come, it's not recommended.

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was usable, though the bare bulb and exposed wires were a bit concerning 😉. The place could work for a single night, but ours had no ventilation, so we ran the air conditioning just to get some fresh air, not because it was hot. Our hostess was kind and attentive to our comfort, but the setting made it hard to relax. We were on the ground floor, facing parked cars and other tenants in the courtyard, so opening the window or door wasn't an option. The accommodation is a small building with several rooms or apartments, in a noisy neighborhood off a highway and beside a main road, with little character. The neighboring houses were even louder than the road, so we were glad we had earplugs. We couldn't sleep until the whole neighborhood settled down, then had to get up early the next day.

The room was clean, simple and basic, with air conditioning. There's a pool in the courtyard too. The only real drawback is that it faces a very busy road.

The manager is very kind, but the decor feels dated, and both the building and pool are right by a busy road. Breakfast before 8 a.m. is limited to bread, a hot drink and a little jam. That's a shame for guests who book the night so they can get an early start driving to places like the cirques.
