The lobby and bar felt welcoming, with games for little kids and teenagers, plus baby foot for adults. There was also a fountain for sparkling or still water and reusable cups. We arrived late and everything was ready for us, with the desk open 24 hours a day. It was a very nice surprise since we hadn't expected much. The rooms were clean, the beds were made up for the kids too, and there was no overbooking.

There was no lift, which made things difficult for elderly guests carrying heavy suitcases. Only one staff member was on duty, and they didn't offer help. Bar drink prices seemed to vary a lot depending on who served you, and they were expensive. The breakfasts were just about okay, while the evening meals were pretty good. Still, everyone agreed the beds and pillows were fab, and the rooms were clean.

The toilet and bathroom looked newly renovated, the room was clean, and the beds were comfy. Breakfast wasn't the best we've had at Novotels, but it was still pretty good. Could you add some fromage blanc? 😇

The shower faucet pressure was too weak and needs fixing in all the rooms. Breakfast was terrible, hardly worth getting up for, and the bar shuts at 10 pm. The two women working in the restaurant were rude, over and over. We're your guests, so you should be nice to us. Sorry, but this is the worst Novotel I've ever stayed in.

Christa in the restaurant was very good, but the reception felt very cold. I understand there's a language barrier. The rest of our stay was a bad experience. This happened on Nov 21 and 22, 2025 at the St Avold location, and we're checking out tomorrow, earlier than planned. It was my first time in a Novotel while traveling to France. Our first room was freezing because the thermostat was broken, and they moved us when they couldn't repair it. In the second room, the shower drain was plugged, flooding the bathroom and leaking into the carpeted hallway. Maintenance plunged it, which brought up a disgusting smell of black sludge. They told us to open a window and wait for the smell to clear, in November. 🥶 We ended up moving to a third room.
