The meal itself was superb: every dish had plenty of flavour, and the sommelier’s wine suggestions were spot-on. I chose the signature menu with wine pairing and ended with coffee. But then the waiter asked me to move tables so he could seat new guests while I had my digestif. I politely said no, though the request felt inappropriate and disrespectful, especially after a €130 bill and a €15 tip. At this level, I expect to feel welcome right through the end of dinner. I wouldn’t come back for dinner unless I was prepared to be hurried out or moved to a back table.

The view over Lyon gave the evening a quietly magical feel, and the service was kind and attentive. We felt welcome and looked after from the start. The asparagus amuse-bouche was fresh and delicate, and the dishes that followed each had their own character. The flavours were balanced and thoughtful, with fresh, carefully chosen ingredients. Nothing seemed rushed or showy; it was honest cooking, well done, with a refined touch. My favourite was the peach tiramisu, a light, creative dessert that was so good I was still thinking about it the next day.

The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the service was superb. With the location overlooking Lyon, right in the heart of Lemrtage hotel, this was one of my best French fine dining experiences. Everything felt spot on. Price $$$$.
