Dina Morgabine Saint Denis

Breakfast was amazing, and having a garage to park the car was a real plus. The rooftop pool was a great spot too. It works well for a day or two in Saint-Denis, including with children. Reception was the one letdown during our stay.

The staff were charming and friendly, and the sea views were lovely. I also enjoyed the delicious food, excellent breakfast, and welcoming bar. The rooms were clean and had kitchenettes. We were there in the middle of a cyclone, and the hotel was kind, accommodating, and gave excellent service. The location is funky, with brilliant places to eat nearby. It was even better than some so-called four-star places, like the horrible villa angelique where I’d stayed before.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and had some nice touches. The staff were very kind, and since we don’t speak French, it helped that they could talk with us in English. The hotel also looks much better in person than in the photos. I’d have liked a few more vegetarian or vegan choices on the menu for evenings when guests don’t want to go out. That’s an issue around Reunion Island, but I expect a hotel to offer a broader selection. Still, it’s reasonably priced, centrally located, and an excellent choice.

I couldn’t sleep and felt uncomfortable throughout the stay. The room was very hot, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the ceiling fan made a lot of noise while barely cooling anything. There was no hairdryer or pool towel in the room either. I called reception for help but nobody answered. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly, and black hair on the sheets made me wonder if they’d even been changed. Hygiene matters a lot to me, and this was unacceptable. The parking gate scanner didn’t work, and a dead bulb left the room quite dark. As a Genius 3 member, I’d expected more. I’m extremely disappointed and hope the hotel offers some compensation.
