Le Chalet d'Auron

We’d happily come back. It’s a beautiful hotel in a very quiet spot, and we could park our two motorcycles under a canopy. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. There’s a pool and jacuzzi. The pool was unfortunately covered at 30 degrees, but that was okay. A really great hotel.

The host was amazingly friendly, and the room was clean and tidy, with charming decor, a comfortable bed and a well-designed bathtub. The hammam and sauna were up to a good standard, and breakfast had local handmade products. It’s a quiet spot in the centre. Just a heads-up, eggs at breakfast cost an extra 9€/p, on top of the breakfast fee. I highly recommend it and I’m sure I’ll be back 🥂

This is the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Auron so far, but for what it offers I thought it was a bit too expensive. I was there for three days of skiing. The rooms are simple and small, with hardly any extras like a minibar or coffee machine, and my room had no Wi-Fi. If I remember correctly, breakfast was 25€ per person and felt very overpriced. There were only a few things to eat, such as yogurt, pineapple, pancakes, croissants and apples. No eggs, bacon, salad or water, and you had to order water separately. The spa didn’t seem suited to winter either. The pool is outside, and the steam room, sauna and showers are all in separate places.

Parking right in front of the hotel was convenient. The other facilities were very dated, though, and the spa rooms were dark. The exercise room had just three machines, in a sun-exposed room with the windows closed. It clearly doesn’t get much use. There’s no elevator for bags, and the soaps were really musky. I wouldn’t recommend it for families with kids. The proprietor made a mistake assigning rooms, then moved us into two smaller rooms after we’d already been settled for hours. I had been away briefly and had to rush back without knowing what was going on, since they didn’t speak English.
