Chalet le Lagopede

We rented the whole chalet for 12, as the contract stated, so it seems odd that the cleaning fee would depend on whether 7 or 12 people came. We'd use all the beds and chairs either way. We were told the whole place would be disinfected, so does it get only half cleaned when fewer people sleep there? The price is also just our opinion, so please don't take it personally. Chalet-style stays are very expensive, and we thought that was worth mentioning. We paid €700 because we had to bring our own sheets and towels, and there weren't even hand towels. We were also taken aback by the reply about the hot water tank. That day, you seemed embarrassed that we hadn't been told about it, and I don't think it's acceptable for a professional not to own up to a mistake. If we'd been informed, we would naturally have shared the water use fairly. The heater regenerates in a day, and we arrived after other tenants and after the “deep cleaning,” so we doubt the water was at that level. None of us showered for more than five minutes, and I mean no offense. It's unacceptable to rent a chalet with a bathtub and then have to rush through showers. The two children's beds were rock hard, too. I'd suggest lowering the allowed guest capacity. It's a shame that customer satisfaction, which matters so much, didn't seem to be a priority. We really liked the chalet itself. It looked just like the pictures and was lovely, but our stay with 12 family members brought several problems. We hadn't been told there was a hot water tank, despite the place being described as “hotel-standard.” Five of us couldn't shower and had to wash with a pot of hot water. Only one person took a bath, yet the owner said there wouldn't have been an outage if we'd all showered instead. Since the description mentions an accessible bathtub, it clearly needs updating. After this major issue and the missing information, there was no compensation. The owner's hospitality was practically nonexistent. Attempts to discuss the cleaning charge, first €100 and then €150, were poorly received. Choices presented as options ended up being mandatory, so the rental agreement needs serious clarification to avoid negotiations. The chalet is beautiful, but it's expensive and hard to access. Nights cost over €1000, with another €100 for cleaning, per-person daily taxes, and €144 for linens. The service doesn't match the price. It's a shame, but the chalet's looks didn't make up for all the trouble. At this cost we'd rather stay somewhere just as welcoming without so many unpleasant surprises.

Virginie welcomed us warmly and was easy to contact. She also had useful tips for equipment rental, dog sledding, and restaurants. We were two couples with four children, and everyone felt at home in the comfortable, well-equipped chalet, with its cozy fireplace. The location is great, a short walk from the slopes and the center of the resort. There's a sledding play area right outside, and the ski storage was handy. We enjoyed lunch in the sun on the terrace and would gladly come back.

We liked it enough to come back two years in a row. The chalet is cozy, nicely decorated, and has everything you need. A superb week both times. Book without hesitation!
