We stayed three months, thanks to a generous long-stay discount, and plan to come back. At CityLoft, the staff made us feel like royalty. It’s on the tram line, and everything is under a 10-minute walk. Our beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the shower had endless hot water, plus a bathtub. The air conditioning was essential in summer. We’d highly recommend it.

Room 220 faces the main road, where the tram runs from 4 am until midnight. Christina, the hotel Manager, was rude, didn’t respond to greetings, and didn’t understand English at all. Nazmik and Louise were very friendly and gave the best customer service. The rooms aren’t cleaned, either, there were dead flies by the window.

We got Room 210 at the last minute and checked in at 10 pm. The staff were great, and the space was a pleasant surprise. It’s a corner apartment-style room with a separate bedroom, a kitchen, and beautiful views of downtown Saint Etienne. Halles Mazerat Saint-Etienne - Biltoki is just a short block away, with plenty of restaurants and an active nightlife within a few blocks. Highly recommended.

We planned on staying one night and ended up staying three months because we loved CityLofts St Etienne so much. It’s in an 1890s Second Empire building with modern conveniences, less than a block from 18 cafes and restaurants. An electric tram is 15 meters from the hotel and can take you to the stadium, train station, planetarium, and a dozen other places. The hardworking staff are right there and know the highlights of this gem of a city. I can’t wait to stay again.

The one drawback is street noise if your room’s window faces the road. Otherwise, the rooms are good and the location is great, close to restaurants, Les Halles, the tram, and indoor parking.
