Ibis Budget Saint-Etienne Centre Gare Châteaucreux

I was in town for a football match, and the location suited me perfectly. The train station is right next door, in what looked like a modern, tidy part of the city. Tram no. 3 went to the stadium, and the old city center was a 10-minute walk away. There were several places to eat nearby, including McDonalds, but my best tip is Au Bureau in the basement, a fantastic sports bar with good food and beer. The hotel seemed modern, the rooms were spacious, and the staff were nice. Good value for money.

The rooms and beds are small, as you'd expect from Ibis budget, but the quality is good enough for a decent night's sleep. I wouldn't recommend it for four couples, since the beds are really small.

My only issue was the weak internet in my third-floor room, though it worked perfectly in the lobby. The room itself was very comfortable, and breakfast was good for the price. The hotel is simple and comfortable, about a minute from the train station and well connected to the city center by trams. I definitely recommend it.

The hotel is convenient, but I don't think it's worth more than 50-60€ a night with breakfast included. Breakfast was really poor and limited. The walls are so thin you can hear what's happening in neighboring rooms, and whenever someone shuts a door, the whole room shakes. I had to move the bed away from the wall because the shaking kept waking me as I was falling asleep.
