La Faisanderie

The gate was shut and the Hotel was completely dark when we got there at 21.30 after a long drive. Check-in was supposed to be open until 23.00. I kept calling the number in the booking details for 20 minutes, but nobody answered, so at 22.00 we gave up and booked another hotel. We reported it to Hotels.com that same night, but this hotel marked us as a no-show. Hotels.com also tried to reach them and had the same problem, according to several emails we received. Neither will refund us. Under torchlight the place looked very run-down, nothing like the photos. Avoid the hotel, and Hotels.com too. I feel both are guilty of taking money from customers.

Laure made us feel very welcome, chatted with us, and was accommodating about the accommodation. She also made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. Our studio was comfortable, and we had access to the swimming pool. We had a very pleasant night at La Faisanderie, where animals roamed around the huge garden.

The lovely grounds and room with its thoughtful touches made a nice impression. I was welcomed so warmly, and the animals were incredibly friendly and calm. I highly recommend it.

The only acceptable part was the surrounding area. I was very disappointed with the accommodation: it was filthy and unhygienic. The sheets were stained, and the bedspread was torn and stained too, as was the mattress. The bathrooms were dirty as well.
