We came back to Les Chalets de la Madeleine for a second time, and both visits were positive. Two families with small children shared one chalet. They’re well maintained, and the staff are very helpful if anything goes wrong. Depending on where your chalet is, you can ski in and out. The ski school starts beside the ski lift, which is about 30 metres uphill but an easy walk. There’s a bread delivery service, though an arrival around 8 am was too late for us since ski school starts at 9. The lounge and restaurant are nice too, and I was able to work remotely there for a day.

Chalet no 3 was our favourite, right beside the piste for ski-in, ski-out access. It’s fully equipped, has good beds, and a large balcony around the house where you can sunbathe all day. St Francois has wide slopes and lots of blue pistes that are great for little kids. The high altitude means the pistes are always open.

Getting around from the Chalets was a real hassle. You have to walk a long way through a very dark parking garage, take a lift downstairs where the lights don’t always work, then follow another dark underground passage to the exit. The apartments and chalets themselves are lovely, relatively new, and well maintained, and the staff are very friendly and speak Dutch. The building is close to the piste, but there’s no easy way to ski straight from it, so you still have to walk about 100 metres.

I went on a ski trip with a friend in January, and everything went fine during the stay. But the €500 deposit still hasn’t been returned to my credit card. I emailed and called the hotel without getting a reply or an answer. I also contacted the booking agency Sportiek, but so far they’ve only forwarded emails and haven’t resolved it.

We spent two weeks here in a chalet with a beautiful view and had a great time. Jean also provided very good service.
