Domaine Saint Francois

We needed a car to get around since the place isn't on the beach, though everything was only a short drive away. The setting is tucked into the tropics and very peaceful. We stayed in a roomy, comfortable two-bedroom apartment under the main house, which suited two adults and two teenagers perfectly. Breakfast was a highlight, simple but really good, served by genuinely friendly staff with a view of the pool. The whole place had a calm, relaxed feel, the food onsite was good, and the staff were lovely and attentive. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for somewhere quiet with a more boutique feel than a typical resort.

Our six-person apartment was spacious and well equipped, and the breakfasts were generous and balanced. The staff were incredibly friendly, dedicated, and always smiling. We had two weeks in paradise, with thanks to Mélanie, Alizée, and Julie. The resort is in a magical setting on Grande-Terre, about a 20-minute drive from Pointe des Châteaux, so you'll want a rental car. They even offer a package that includes one. The resort also booked two activities for us: a trip to Petite-Terre, which you need to reserve in advance, and a 4x4 outing in northern Basse-Terre. Our guide was fantastic and attentive. We enjoyed the welcome, the breakfasts, the setting, and the location during our two nights at Domaine Saint François. It was also handy that we could stay during the day after checkout and shower before our flight. The price felt too high for the level of service. The bungalows were dark, the lighting in some areas was a bit garish, and there was no clothesline. The outdoor shower was nice but cramped, the bed creaked, and no pool towels were provided, despite the €250 nightly rate. There was also a toilet smell after a water outage. A larger backup tank might help. At that price, we shouldn't have to put up with these inconveniences.
