Titalee Lodge

For nine weeks we escaped the UK winter at Titalee Lodge, and I can’t think of a more restful stretch of time. Jennifer was warm, quick to help, and full of useful suggestions. The lodges are snug and comfortable, with lovely shaded outdoor areas and a shared pool that suited us perfectly. We had fun getting around on bikes and local buses, though you really need a car to explore the island properly. It’s a peaceful little oasis in Guadeloupe.

Set among a lush, jungle-like garden, the lodges have plenty of shade for relaxing on the terrace, plus a lovely pool for days when you don’t feel like heading to the beach. Our lodge was well equipped, and the beds were the most comfortable we’ve had in a holiday rental. The property is very nice, though a little outside central Saint Francois. The owner was always available when we had questions or needed anything. I’d happily recommend it.

The gardens are beautifully kept and full of tropical flowers, and the attached lodges make for a quiet, cosy stay. Ours was small, but the location was handy, just outside town and close to grocery stores, simple restaurants, and bakeries. The owner speaks English and is lovely. My girlfriend and I stayed just before Covid-19 struck in the US. Looking back, we should have stayed at the Lodge and spent every day on the gorgeous beaches nearby. Titalee Lodge ( Butterfly ) is a wonderful place to stay in Guadeloupe.

We loved the atmosphere, and the lush green setting felt like stepping into a forest. Jennifer and her husband were attentive hosts who really cared about the details and how we were enjoying their haven. They’re bilingual in French and English, and it’s very kid-friendly. Such a great experience!
