Mas de l'Arrivette

We stayed in the Olive Tree room, which was spacious and had superb bedding 👌. The place was peaceful and pleasant, and France, our hostess, was always attentive. A magical little break!

We paid €120 a night expecting an upscale property, and the reality was disappointing. Mrs. France is a sweet elderly woman, but she seemed unable to manage everything herself. The property has the potential to feel like heaven on earth, yet it was dirty and run down. We didn't see any employees during our stay. The garden and pool need daily care from a gardener, and the outdoor furniture also needs attention. As shown in the photos I posted, it was covered in leaves and the cushions were damp and seemed never to have been cleaned. Our room was beautiful but not very clean, with a large cobweb between the closet and ceiling. The rooms weren't made up, towels weren't changed, and there wasn't even a bar of soap, so bring your own. There was no fridge in the room, which was a real problem in summer. We drank hot water the whole time. Breakfast was barely adequate. The croissants and butter were good, as they are everywhere in France, but there was no savory food. We would have liked to try some good cheese in a place known for excellent cheeses. Every morning the breadbox was filthy, and the same bread was served again, even though it was obvious we wouldn't eat it because of how dirty it was. The website photos don't show what the place is really like. I'd ask other travelers to be objective and not leave positive reviews simply because they like the property. If I return to France, I'll definitely choose a hotel with amenities.

A real 10/10! Everything feels beautifully and lovingly put together. The outdoor space is idyllic, with a Mediterranean feel, and swimming in the pool beneath the olive trees was wonderful.

We felt right at home and really loved our relaxing stay in a superb setting. France is a charming host, full of helpful tips, and we enjoyed chatting with her over breakfast.
