House With 2 Bedrooms in Saint-gilles, With Pool Access, Enclosed Gard

My sister is still out 1000 euros, despite all our efforts, and neither VRBO nor the management agent Homerez has been able to help get the deposit back. We stayed with extended family in August 2025, and the owner requested 1000 euros upfront. Two months later, he still hadn't returned it or replied. Homerez were perfectly pleasant, but they haven't refunded us either or managed to get him to do so. When we arrived, several things were broken, including games tables and a bathroom window with a large, sharp piece of glass left there. The showers didn't drain and there was no hot water. We took photos and reported everything straight away. My brother repaired a games table so the children could use it. Some problems were fixed, but not all. We mainly wanted to enjoy our holiday, though we also didn't want to lose the deposit. At the end, we were told the place had to be spotless or money would be kept. We spent the whole day before leaving cleaning, then took photos to show it was in good order. That was difficult, as we had to leave it better than we'd found it. At 11.30 on our last night, the owner arrived and stayed in one of the rooms without speaking to us. Two hours before checkout, the baby's high chair was taken away before we'd fed her. My niece, a young mother, was told to carry a heavy cot to another part of the large building.

Our room was fine, but many of the others had serious damage, including broken windows and air conditioning that didn't work. The owners also arrived the evening before we left and stayed overnight, which was strange. We put a lot of work into leaving the place cleaner and tidier than we found it, yet the owner hasn't returned the deposit or answered any of our messages. Don't book.

The building looks pretty, but it's run down, and the hosts were rude and naff. The whole stay was more hassle than it was worth. Save yourself the angst and find a better domaine. You'll thank me later.

Alain was such a good host. He kindly let us use an unbooked apartment with a kitchen so we could cook for ourselves, and didn't add anything to the bill. The building, rooms, and pool were all beautiful. This was probably the best B&B of my 10-day trip in the south of France. If you're planning a trip to camargue, I'd definitely recommend booking here. An unforgettable stay, thank you Alain!
