Oceania Rennes

The Oceania Hotel is by the entrance to Alphasis, the business office development area in Saint-Grégoire (Rennes), and close to a main motorway. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the restaurant and breakfast room are first class. The friendly, helpful staff add to the stay. Its carefully planned decor helps distinguished guests feel at home and cared for. To me, it measures up to better-known hotel brands like Mercure and Sofitel.

Modern-looking and very clean, with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Everything worked as expected. Breakfast was great, the location was good, and the price felt right.

A good place to stop if you’re passing through, and handy for Rennes, with easy motorway links. The 36 bus stops right outside, and a return to the city centre costs €1.50. We spent a pleasant afternoon there and ate dinner at the hotel. The steak was superb and, for France, very reasonably priced at €19. Breakfast the next morning was also good value at €6 for all you could eat, with sausage, egg, bacon, and beans. I’d give it five stars, but there were no tea facilities in the room. Worth a stay for a weary traveller.

I meant to book the hotel near CDG airport in Paris, but somehow my booking switched to a location four hours away. When I called, a gentleman at the hotel said I should have booked the similarly named location and that I’d get a refund if I sent confirmation of the booking. I tried to book that one, but thankfully the screen went black a few times. When I looked it up to call them, it showed the location as always being hours from CDG. I eventually gave up and booked another hotel. OCeania still hasn’t refunded my money.
