Camping Les Biches

The pitches are lovely, set among pine trees that give plenty of shade, and the pool slides are fantastic. We had a really good time during peak season, when it was very busy, but the atmosphere still felt safe and family-friendly. The reception staff were very friendly and spoke English well.

We’ve been back ten times since our first visit in 2008, and we still enjoy the site. Since the change of ownership, though, it feels like some of the personal touch has gone. Some entertainment now takes place on the tennis courts, which is very loud if you’re hoping for a quiet stay. I complained about that last year. There seemed to be less this year, perhaps because I wasn’t the only one who complained, but we still had bingo, with a man shouting into a microphone, and karaoke whether we wanted it or not.

We had to mop the floor and wipe down the shelves when we arrived because the accommodation needed cleaning. Some light bulbs needed replacing, and one flickered for the whole holiday. An information pack about local activities and events would have helped. We had to find out for ourselves about the Escape game, the train to the market and the kids’ club.

We arrived with our touring caravan and were given a sandy pitch behind the restaurant complex. Getting there with the caravan attached was difficult, especially following the route reception directed us to take. The staff were very helpful when we had a problem with the caravan, but overall there doesn’t seem to be a designated area for touring caravans, and we felt dumped in that corner. We won’t return. We’d booked 12 nights but left after four.
