Camping Les Places Dorees

Our holiday was nice, but I wouldn’t return or recommend this for an English family. Staff spoke very little English, including at reception and in the restaurant, and seemed unhelpful when we asked questions or tried to order. My kids wanted to join activities but couldn’t really take part because of the language barrier. We tried a quiz one evening; a staff member translated for a while, then gave up, so we couldn’t follow what was happening. The location and facilities are good. Our touring caravan pitch was tucked into a corner, and thank goodness we had a motor mover. It was mostly sand, which made it a pain to keep sand out of the caravan with young kids, though most pitches didn’t seem like that. Most of the site is static caravans. The kids liked the swimming pools, play park, sports areas, and riding bikes and scooters around the site. We managed to get sun loungers by going early, as they get taken otherwise. The splash area is nice for little ones. My son did catch a sickness bug from the indoor pool. The toilets were clean and the showers good, but they seemed to close them for cleaning at 5pm, just when people wanted to shower after a day at the pool or beach. It was nice to order pasties for the morning, although there wasn’t much choice.

The main snag for us was the language barrier. Very few staff could speak English, and our French is limited. Even so, we had a fantastic family holiday at this lovely site, with its brilliant pool and good location. The facilities were really good, and being able to order fresh bread and pastries each morning was a real win.

The campsite itself is lovely and clean, the staff are very friendly, and the restaurant serves very good food. The couple running it were excellent and made a lovely atmosphere. Our mobile home was spacious, but came without a BBQ, kettle or oven. There wasn’t even anything to light the gas hob with, so we had to buy everything. The shower was terrible; nobody ever came to fix it, so we ended up using the public ones. The biggest disappointment was our vacansoliel rep. We never even met them. We’ve been taking campsite holidays for several years, mostly through canvas, and they look after their customers very well. So the campsite is lovely, but vacansoliel was very poor.

A cozy, very quiet campsite and a comfortable place to relax. There are lots of pools and fun games for children. The service was on a good level, with many nice, responsive people. Thank you for the good service, we hope to come back soon!
