Belle's Retreat

The rooms were roomy and the beds incredibly comfortable, and Anne-Marie and Chris made us feel right at home. We had a fantastic stay at Belles Retreat in August, in a perfect spot for a relaxing break in the beautiful French countryside. We explored Poiters, the lovely villages and towns nearby, and the impressive Chateau Purnon. Would love to come back soon.

Breakfast was amazing, great value and even better with such good company. Anne Marie, Chris and David welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home throughout our 10-day stay. The beautiful rooms had a nice shower and bath tap, and the buildings and grounds are full of history, charm and souvenirs from different countries to look around and enjoy. Definitely coming back next year! A lovely family stop in this tasteful B&B, or a peaceful getaway for a couple wanting a break from city life and traffic. Highly recommend.

We had a really enjoyable short holiday, thanks to all the tips Chris and Anne-Marie shared about places to visit. They made us feel welcome in their home.

I ended up leaving and finding somewhere else to stay. The place smelled nauseating, and the host seemed filthy, with no regard for hygiene. The water bottle, glasses and windows were dirty, and there was hair on the carpet. I’ll leave you to imagine the rest of the house. I tried speaking to the owner, but she claimed I didn’t want to pay, even though I’d already paid the full amount in advance. How can Booking.com recommend accommodation like this? Horrible experience. Avoid at all costs.
