The cost of the room was high, and three times we were asked to leave it. Reception had said we had until noon, so I’ve never seen anything like that. We were also eaten alive by mosquitoes, and there were bedbugs too. With children, we found the rooms filthy: hair clogged the bathroom, there was no toilet paper, and cigarette butts were still in the toilet. The pool was disgusting, the brochure photos looked nothing like the place, and the staff were nowhere to be found, even with very noisy guests around. Cleaning staff came at 7:30 in the morning; luckily we’d left the key in the door. Definitely avoid this place.

We had to find an emergency hotel at 11:00 PM. My cousin had booked this place for a stay in Montpellier, but on arrival there were three completely dilapidated cars. The hotel was a total squat, with heavy chains and padlocks everywhere, no lights, and an empty pool full of filth. I won’t get into the other details. It’s still listed on all the booking sites. Apparently the manager went bankrupt six months ago, but he’s still raking in money. Be warned!

The aperitif and canapés made by a friend were the one saving grace. Everything else at my sister and brother-in-law’s July 11, 2015 wedding was a nightmare for them and the guests. The children’s food was worst: two expired sausages, half a slice of reconstituted ham, seven fries, a gray chicken nugget, and a hamburger patty the size of a small Breton palate. We had to buy food for the children elsewhere, and I won’t even get into the hygiene of the service. Hopefully we didn’t catch anything. The meal cost the bride and groom a fortune. Our own food was three lettuce leaves with a tiny piece of foie gras that tasted like fish and a gizzard, followed by a supposed beef fillet roast that couldn’t be cut and was presented unacceptably. The cake looked nothing like a wedding cake, and the cream puffs were cardboard-like and empty. Couples should change their wedding reservation if they don’t want the same experience.

For our 10th wedding anniversary, the website promised something that felt misleading. The internet was free but didn’t work, and breakfast cost 7 euros for very little, so McDonald’s was the better choice. When we left, the cleaning lady glared at us and spoke unpleasantly. We’d complained to the manager after she took note of the problems, but nothing changed and there was no compensation. In the 150-euro-a-night suite, the duvet cover was horribly dirty, there were clumps of cobwebs, and the optional Greek bath had hair in the pipes. The bins hadn’t been emptied. Dust coated the counters, bed frame, and fan so thickly I thought the place was abandoned. We opened the windows to air it out, then the curtains, covered in black dust, fell on us, and there was dirt all over the floor. At reception, the cleaner said duvet covers were only changed every two days, so we were sleeping in the same sheets as strangers. She said she had 40 rooms to clean that morning, had missed the dust, hair, and spiders, and wouldn’t clean because her shift was over. She’d do it tomorrow, lol. We’d also had lunch there on arrival. The glasses were stained, as were our lids, and I had a stomach ache that evening. This hotel is like a trash can, dirt encrusted everywhere. The cleaning lady had to be sent up by reception. Better to stay at a good Etape Hotel, which is a thousand times better for a comparable price.
