Hôtel du Château de Cabrières

The grounds are magnificent, with majestic trees, a tennis court and a swimming pool. My dog was very welcome, and the owner even turned the heating back on for us. The rooms aren't modern; they're in the castle's style, just what we were after. We slept extremely well, and the beds were comfortable. Thank you to the owner.

The setting above Saint Jean du Gard is magnificent and unusual, but the hotel itself is dated rather than rustic. The carpets, bathrooms, decor and furnishings all seem long past their best, and the service falls below the bare minimum. The bathroom hygiene left something to be desired. The owner also fills the roles of lord, receptionist, waiter, gardener and housekeeper. He's a bit odd, but far from unpleasant. It feels like boarding a Titanic of a hotel, quietly sinking.

Our families and friends felt right at home in your château and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. In the heart of the Cévennes, it was the most beautiful place we could have hoped for to celebrate our wedding. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the thoughtful touches during such a memorable weekend. I hope we can come back soon for more family celebrations. The owner even upgraded us from a quadruple room to two adjoining rooms. We found them comfortable and clean, and the beds were very satisfactory despite some earlier comments. The building is beautiful, steeped in history and full of charm, with a magnificent park where cedars, oaks, palms and a bamboo grove grow together. It made for a timeless stay.
