Auberge Desprairies

We really enjoyed our two nights at the farm inn. The rooms were comfortable and charming, the meals were excellent, and we were lucky to try the palm heart salad. Willy welcomed us warmly and even joined us for dinner each evening. It’s also well situated for exploring the south of the island. We highly recommend it.

Sharing dinner with the other guests at Auberge des Prairies made our two nights there a wonderful experience, full of conversation, new encounters, and useful tips. Everything was just right, from the clean room and breakfast to the evening meal, which we especially enjoyed and which used products from the inn itself. Thanks to this lovely family. The breakfast was much more generous than usual, easily a match for a hotel breakfast. There was bean-to-cup coffee, homemade juice, pastries, bread, jams, cassava flatbread, yogurt, cakes, and seasonal fruit like lychees and cherries. The hosts served it all with such warmth that we felt right at home. Dinner is available for €30 per person and needs to be booked before 1 p.m.; there’s a minimum number of guests for it to go ahead. I recommend eating there, you won’t be disappointed. Restaurants are also a 10-minute drive away. Getting there takes you through sugarcane fields, and each room has a reserved parking spot. We got juice on arrival, and the room had a mosquito repellent plug-in, a TV, and a comfortable bed. The value for money was superb. My one tiny quibble is that there was only a small bar of soap, so shower gel or more soap would be useful. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

We were warmly welcomed, and the room was spacious and very well equipped. The bed was comfortable, the multi-jet shower was lovely, and I appreciated having a hairdryer and fridge. There was a musty smell, though. Breakfast was incredible, with homemade juice, yogurt, jam, cakes, and more. Great value for money, and just the place for a quiet night to recharge.
