Sweet Home

Xavier and Marie are very welcoming hosts. We had a lovely three-night stay and even tried the jacuzzi at the end of the day for €5. It was a perfect way to finish after a long walk on the lava trails.

We felt really comfortable here. The family was lovely, helpful, and very accommodating, and the terrace was a great spot to unwind. The rooms are reached by a separate staircase, with a separate toilet upstairs. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and we already miss Marie's homemade jam.

For the price, I’d definitely recommend this place. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating, and we had a great stay. We rented both of the two rooms. One has two separate single beds and parquet flooring; the other has a double bed and tiled flooring. I understand the second room can also be arranged with two singles and/or a double bed. The shower is shared, while the toilet is private. The layout may be awkward if you’re taller than 165-170cm. There are two car parking spaces, outside the courtyard. Restaurants, a bank, pharmacy, and bakery are nearby, and a Leclerc supermarket is a little farther away, about a 10-minute walk (800 meters). It’s an easy walk if you’re used to walking, with no hills.

Xavier and Marie were warm, available, and attentive hosts, and they helped us get a little closer to Creole culture. Marie prepared an optional Creole meal for us, which was a real treat. Xavier also offered us a welcome drink and shared some of his many homemade infused rums, including after dinner. The house is ideally placed for visiting lots of points of interest. We slept incredibly well, and the comfortable room had everything we needed, including a table, coffee maker, and television. Breakfast, prepared by our hosts, was generous and delicious. Our stay with them was perfect, and we highly recommend it.
