Ocean Sunset

The sound of the roaring sea and the amazing view made it a wonderful place to stay. We loved taking our time over breakfast on the terrace. It had everything we could have wanted. Thanks for having us.

We booked nine nights in this apartment for a trip to Réunion Island. Before we arrived, we asked for check-in instructions and were assured everything was fine. During our stopover in Paris, we saw extensive warnings about Chikungunya, a deadly virus present on Réunion Island and spread by mosquitoes. Our disabled child has a weakened immune system and is often bitten by mosquitoes, so we couldn't take the risk and had to cancel the trip. The owner said the virus wasn't a problem because cases were decreasing, but that they would keep all our money. I believe the accommodation withheld important information about the virus. If they had been honest, they could have told us sooner, while free cancellation was still possible.

From the upper floor, we had a breathtaking view of the ocean. The apartment was spacious, modern, and laid out really well, just as it looked in the pictures. The location made it easy to reach the main roads and all parts of the island. The owners were lovely. We’ll definitely come back. Aurélie and Fabrice

The house itself is beautiful and has an ocean view, but we had to leave early because of cockroaches in the bathrooms and bedrooms, humidity, and bathrooms that weren’t clean. We even found cockroaches on our feet while eating on the terrace. We were left without a place to stay with our 7-year-old daughter, and the owners didn’t respond at all. This was the fourth place we’d rented on the island, and we hadn’t had trouble at the others, so the tropical climate doesn’t explain everything. We have photos of what we saw, including cockroaches about 5 cm long. The same report was posted on Booking.com in August 2023, so this didn’t begin just before we arrived. We booked through Airbnb.
