Appart'hôtel les Tilleuls

For €143 a night, this was deeply disappointing. The apartment was dirty enough that my bare feet turned black after walking in the “kitchen.” Mattresses were very uncomfortable, there was no decor, and the few furnishings looked cheap and ugly, including a battered vinyl sofa that seemed like it might have been pulled from a dump. The amenities were basic, with too few dishes and not even the minimum for three people. There was no welcome or direct contact, and we were given very little information. When we raised our disappointment, the response was, “Among our satisfied customers is the Aznavour family,” which we found amusing. That’s hardly a quality guarantee, and sharing it also showed a complete lack of discretion. I’d expect confidentiality and discretion when dealing with celebrities. Appalling!

Restaurants, bars, and bakeries are close by, since Le Tilleul is right in the village center. We spent a night there after cycling along the greenway by the Garonne River, such a pretty area. The apartment stayed quite cool in 34-degree heat, and it was very quiet and clean. I highly recommend it.

We didn’t try the spa or restaurant, but staying here was very pleasant, and I’d choose an apartment hotel here again if I return to Saint-Macaire. The air conditioning was a real plus in summer, and the bed was very comfortable. The toilet and shower were clean too. The welcome was warm, informed, and easy to access. The apartment was nicely laid out, though a few basics were missing, like a wooden spoon to avoid scratching the pans, and it could use a bit more cleaning in places. Dust was really embedded around the uncomfortable wooden spikes sticking out of the headboard. There was also a fishy smell in the little patio. The apartments themselves are very nice for short or medium stays.

The atmosphere was calm and friendly, and the apartment was spacious, very clean, and had a lovely typical feel. A great place for a short, peaceful break. I’m charmed and recommend it for a relaxing getaway.
