If you expect air conditioning and lifts, this place won't suit you. It's a traditional hotel in an old building, with three floors and no lift, just lovely old wooden stairs. Some rooms have the best sea view in town, and with the windows open you can fall asleep to the roar of the sea. My bedroom was simple and clean, with everything I needed, including a kettle. Breakfast is worth the 13 euros, served as a buffet in a lovely building across the road. There's also a secure locked room next door for bicycles. It's very good value, and I'll stay at hotel porte saint pierre again next time I'm in Saint Malo, hopefully soon.

We joined our French friends for Sunday brunch in mid-September. The location was lovely, and the buffet had a fabulous selection. Such a friendly atmosphere, and a really lovely brunch.

We had the ground-floor room for disabled guests, which meant no stairs and made getting our bikes in and out easy. Reception kept our cycles safe. It's a friendly, family-run hotel in an ideal spot inside the walled city, right by the sea and just five minutes from the ferry port. The room was clean. Breakfast is available for an extra charge, though we didn't try it. Great for cycle touring.

The view from the top room was good, but nearby parking was hard to find. The room felt old, cramped and poorly soundproofed, and the bathroom had seen better days. I skipped breakfast after seeing the limited buffet selection, which didn't seem worth the price.

Breakfast is served across the street and was pretty nice, especially making your own crepe. The hotel is good value and close to the walls. It's a nice place, though the historic building comes with thin walls, a small shower and lots of stairs.
