L'Hôtel Particulier Ascott

We’d booked two nights but liked it enough to extend to three. Emmanuel and his wife looked after us really well. The host was welcoming, spoke English, and there was secure parking. St Malo was an easy walk away.

We were there for one night before catching the ferry back to Portsmouth. The owner gave us a lovely welcome, and the hotel has a great sense of style. The bedrooms were smart, with modern en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast is well worth having, with homemade ingredients. It’s in a quiet part of town, but you can walk to the centre if you have time to explore.

We were so well looked after, from the friendly, accommodating staff to the hotel itself. It felt like being treated like royalty in a beautiful French chateau. I’ve visited Saint Malo many times, and this was the best hotel we’ve stayed in. I’d love to come back. Thank you! We stayed one night for the first time, and it was a lovely surprise near Saint Malo intra-muros. The hotel is small, and so are the rooms, but the modern decor feels more luxurious than a 3-star place. The room smelled lovely as soon as we opened the door. We were glad we booked breakfast. A lovely woman brought it to our table, and there was plenty for the two of us: several kinds of bread, jam, crepes, fruit, fresh orange juice, tea, and coffee. It felt like a 5-star breakfast and was definitely worth it. The entrance is very narrow for cars, but parking is free. There’s also free parking along the main road.

The area felt safe, with shops and cafés nearby. It’s a good location if you have a car. There’s a bus to the centre, but on the Sunday I was there the service wasn’t great. I would have had to wait more than 45 minutes, and I couldn’t get a taxi, so I walked there and back. It was a nice walk and not too bad. The service was friendly, helpful, and polite. I liked the hotel’s decor and had a clean room with everything I needed, including a little balcony. The bathroom was small but nice. I had a good stay and would come back.
