La Maison des Armateurs

For what we paid, I unfortunately wouldn’t stay here again. It’s a good quality 3* hotel, but in my opinion it doesn’t meet the standard I’d expect of a 4*. The central location is excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but the attention to detail was lacking. The handheld shower is over the bath rather than in a separate unit. The wardrobe opens onto the bed, so it can only open halfway, and the towel rail above the toilet means choosing between dry towels and using the loo. Breakfast was average: the hot food was barely warm, and used crockery stayed on tables the whole time we ate, without the tables being cleaned or reset. There’s no restaurant, gym, children’s area, or other extra facility to distinguish the hotel from a 3*. You’re paying for a room and a convenient location.

It’s a short walk from Parking P7. The building is in good condition, and the room’s double doors kept it very quiet. The bed was comfortable, the front desk staff pleasant, and the hotel is simple and fine, with tasteful decor.

We only spent one night here after a last-minute change to our ferry schedule, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms inside the walls of Saint Malo were spacious and charming. The elevator worked, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I’d highly recommend it as a first choice for anyone staying inside the walls.

We stayed for NYE 2025 and found the room clean, roomy, quiet, and comfortable. We didn’t have a bath, though our family had a room with one and said it was amazing. The receptionist was amazing, with exceptional English, and the other staff members were great too. We had booked parking, but our large Ford Ranger wouldn’t fit. The staff showed us the nearest car park instead. I’d recommend this hotel for comfort and convenience.
