Camping le Gibanel

There’s plenty to enjoy here: a great location, shady pitches, a playground, rentals, and a restaurant. But the state of the showers and toilets really took away from the stay. Some pitches are a long walk from the facilities, and when we arrived in the afternoon the toilets were already filthy. They weren’t cleaned until late the following afternoon. Bring your own toilet paper.

The toilets were my main complaint. They were dirty and smelly, and it seemed they only replaced the paper rather than cleaning properly with disinfectant. Still, we had a really good stay and enjoyed ourselves. It’s a beautiful spot, with helpful management and excellent shaded plots. The site has a lot of potential, but some areas looked dilapidated and unkempt. It could use tidying up, refurbishment, and some investment.

The lake is great for swimming and water sports, and there’s a lovely pool and restaurant too. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. The pitches under the trees are great, with electric hookups, water, and motorhome emptying facilities. Everyone on the crew was friendly and easy to approach. There’s a small shop where you can order bread for the next day. Highly recommended.

We arrived to find a broken bed in the lounge, but the staff swapped it out quickly. They were friendly and helpful throughout. It’s quiet and peaceful out in the French countryside. The pool isn’t heated, so the water is invigorating. There’s also a restaurant, though I haven’t tried it. Wifi only works around the office.
