Le Lanternon

Leaving Le Lanternon today made us a little melancholy. Jérôme’s place has a laid-back, enchanting feel, and we slipped into a slower rhythm over the past few days. Everything went smoothly, from booking and check-in to the relaxed time we spent there. Mornings began with a typically French breakfast in the peaceful garden. At night, we settled into a spacious room facing the garden and fell asleep to the soft sound of wind in the trees. Jérôme has made more than a house: it feels like living art, with every curve and detail carefully considered yet never pretentious. Anyone who loves genuine beauty will enjoy Le Lanternon. Jérôme and Lucille are kind and warm without intruding, and their presence makes the place feel even more special. This was our second visit to Île de Ré, and we’ll certainly return to Le Lanternon. Merci beaucoup, Jérôme, for creating somewhere time slows down and life feels like art.

We’ll definitely come back. The house has been renovated beautifully, and its spot by the port makes it easy to enjoy St Martin de Ré and get around the whole island. We felt cared for from the moment we arrived. Jérôme, thank you for making it such a lovely stay.

Our room in the main house was huge, peaceful, and furnished with real taste. Jérôme helped us think through our plans and gave us great tips. He clearly cares about the place, and we really liked both him and the house. The garden was lovely too, and so were the rooms, food, welcome, and conversation. We can’t wait to return.

We loved spending time in the garden, with its loungers, comfortable chairs, and small pool. Breakfast was lovely, and in good weather you can eat outside. Jerome was friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed talking with him. The house has five rooms, with another five in Le Secret in the garden wing. Our room was spacious, airy, beautifully decorated, and looked out toward the street and port or the garden. The main-house rooms are reached by stairs, with no lift. The ground-floor sitting rooms and breakfast dining room feel homely, with comfortable sofas and chairs, books and ornaments all around, and a bar in one sitting room. You can climb two steep, narrow staircases to the Lantern for 360-degree views over St Martin. It’s a good spot to take a drink and snack while watching the sunset. This is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed. We’d return in a heartbeat and are already figuring out the logistics for a winter long weekend.
