The Originals City, Hôtel de l'Europe

The receptionist was friendly and helpful when we arrived, and it was a relief to find free, out-of-sight parking behind the hotel for our motorbike. Our room was alright, and the bathroom was fine, though the room was a bit warm and had no air conditioning. We were downstairs right beside the street, so there was some noise from people passing outside late at night. But it was Friday night in the town centre, so what can you expect? We didn’t try breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. The seating area looked bright and colourful, with some tables outside at the back. Handy spot for eating and drinking in town if you’re passing through. There’s a decent Irish bar nearby with a range of beers on tap, Black Sheep Tavern, and a lovely restaurant beside the beach, Restaurant Le 16, if you’re not in a hurry.

We'd come back, yes. The rooms are small but modern, and the breakfast was much better than most. The staff were really good, mostly English-speaking, though check-in was a little slow. The hotel is right beside a large public car park, which is handy. Try for a first-floor room if you can: there's no lift, and hauling heavy bags up to the third floor was a struggle.

The breakfast buffet was good, and I had a comfortable, pleasant room. Reception were friendly and helpful too. It's a very nice hotel right in the town centre, close to a supermarket and other shops.

The wifi was the one snag. It could be weak and kept cutting out, so I had to log in again regularly. Still, that shouldn't put you off. We had a really great nine-night stay for both work and pleasure. The hotel is clean and some of the best value for money, and the manager and staff were just so friendly and helpful. A fantastic little hotel.
