Le Charmant

The restaurant is a must, the food was delicious. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the decor is lovely. It's a beautifully restored mansion turned into a hotel and restaurant, with the owners doing an amazing job preserving the building's architectural features. That gives it such a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend. You won't find an experience like this elsewhere in Paris, especially at such an affordable price.

The clean room and comfortable bed earned the two stars. The place is a bed and breakfast, not a hotel, and there's no reception in the evening. I booked breakfast with the room and was charged for it again. Don't expect a proper hotel breakfast: there wasn't much choice and the food wasn't fresh. The one plus was that they had oat milk for coffee. There was old bread, a couple of frozen French pastries warmed in the oven, plain yogurt with a little honey or jam, a bit of brie and some cold cakes. Definitely overrated for no reason!

My friend and I had already visited Paris several times, so for our weekend trip we wanted somewhere that felt more like a neighborhood. The only thing we'd planned was the Saint-Ouen flea market. We first came across the restaurant at Le Charmant through its glowing reviews, then learned they'd recently opened guest rooms upstairs in a beautifully restored mansion. It turned out to be exactly what we wanted, and we felt lucky to find it. The property sits on a quiet street and feels peaceful, yet M13, M14 and RER C are only a short walk away. Most major sights are 15 to 30 minutes away. Our room was incredibly spacious for Paris, and having a lovely restaurant right downstairs was such a treat. We had two dinners there, and Chef Romain made sure we tried his favorite dishes. We loved them. There's also a big garden and event space out back, though sadly we were out exploring and missed the afternoon BBQ. Anne and Sélim did a wonderful job restoring their former family home in Saint-Ouen. Thanks to them for such a lovely stay. I really hope to come back soon.

I only ate at the restaurant, and it felt more like France than any other restaurant I've been to. The place is really authentic, the food is great and the service was perfect.
