The big pitches and spotless toilets won me over, along with the lovely views across the walnut groves and the hilly, wooded countryside. It looked a bit scruffy at first, but turned out to be a real gem. This Walnut Farm has grown to include a B+B, campsite, lodges, Friterie and a farm shop with local produce.

The trees gave welcome shade in the heat of mid July, and the site has lovely views across the fields, especially at sunset. It’s peaceful and pleasant, with clean toilets and showers, plus a pool if you fancy a swim. Some pitches slope a little because of the land itself. The campsite is beside a main road, but I didn’t find the traffic noise a problem, and it’s handy for getting to the Lot and Dordogne valleys.

We stopped here for just one night on our way to the Pyrenees and had a lovely, peaceful stay. Our pitch had a beautiful view, and the owner was very friendly and spoke English fluently. You can order bread and pick up local products at reception. I’d recommend it for either a quick stop or a longer stay. Thank you.

After our car caught fire, the team here helped us a lot while Opteven, our breakdown cover, was useless and couldn’t arrange our repatriation. The owner kindly let us stay at the hotel and site for the five days we were stranded, and was very flexible. It’s a lovely area and a great site with a great team. I hope to come back for a proper holiday and explore the Cahors area. Thanks again.

The owner is a really nice man, and his shop sells walnuts and regional products. We also ate at the snackbar/restaurant, where we had the menu with confit de canard and a nice salad. The campground is lovely, with beautiful surroundings and a refreshing pool with splendid views. We stopped twice on our way home and would like to come back for a longer stay. Cahors is a wonderful city, and the region’s unspoiled nature gives you plenty to explore. Au revoir et merci!
