L'Echo des 2 Baies

The Bay of Somme is easy to explore from this location, and the place itself is very quiet. There are no neighbors, which is just as well because the rooms have no soundproofing. We arrived on our own at night and had some trouble finding the entrance and our room. The room’s decor was nice, though the furniture seemed budget. It was cold all night because the heating hadn’t been turned on. When we mentioned it in the morning, the reply was rather curt: we should have switched on the towel warmer too, to heat both the bathroom and bedroom. Hello, energy bill! The breakfast room was ordinary, and the breakfast was basic. The service didn’t have much enthusiasm, either. There were bags of dirty towels at the bottom of the stairs.

The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and well equipped, with a separate toilet. The person who welcomed us and served breakfast was especially friendly and gave us useful tips about things to see nearby. It was a shame some guests didn’t seem to account for how thin the walls are.

The young woman serving breakfast was very kind. The room had a comfortable queen-size bed, a large bathroom, and a nice shower, but the poor sound and heat insulation was such a shame.

The rooms were a good size, new, tastefully decorated, and clean. The family running the place was incredibly friendly, and I enjoyed chatting with the charming mother over breakfast. One drawback, as others have mentioned, is how little sound gets blocked, probably because of the doors. Even though the rooms are upstairs, noise echoes, which can be annoying early or late. It’s a relaxing country stop, with lots of beautiful spots nearby if you have a car. I highly recommend it.
