Mercure Saint Raphael Centre Plage

The staff were friendly, and the private parking was handy for our bikes. It isn’t reservable, though. The hotel felt a bit shabby, and most of the main building is residences, with hotel rooms only on the first floor. Our small seaside room had very salty windows, and I wasn’t sure how often they were cleaned. There was also a half-empty water bottle in the fridge. For an early swim, I had to go back to the room for a credit card to leave a €50 beach towel deposit, then return the card to the room before going outside. They said it was policy, but charging the deposit to the room seems like a simple change. Next time I’ll probably stay somewhere else.

As of May 2025, extensive roadworks in front of the hotel were spoiling the views and making access by car harder in this already busy area. The hotel is modern, on the seafront road, and close to both the marina and town centre. Reception was very helpful, and the rooms are modestly appointed, with modern bathrooms. There’s underground parking, entered from the road to the hotel’s right when you’re facing it. The ramp is very steep. If you don’t have four-wheel drive, make sure you have grippy tyres, a light car, or people who can help push you back out.

The front office staff member who checked us in was very nice, though I forgot her name. We had a nice stay, but the rooms are all on the first floor, so at night you can hear people talking outside and it can get very noisy.

The sea is right in front of the building, and the train and bus stations are nearby, making day trips around this beautiful region easy. The staff were pleasant, and the water machine was a nice touch. During our stay, though, the sparkling water had no gas, and staff didn’t notice a dirty tissue left by the machine. Small details, but they matter. Finding the entrance is unusual: you go into the residence building, walk straight through, and reach the front desk. It’s a tiny hotel, with all the rooms on the first floor, so there’s no higher floor with a good view. It’s also a pity that some balconies can’t be used and are covered with decorative stones. Good for a short stay.
