Hotel Van Gogh

The room and shared areas were quiet, and housekeeping was excellent. Everything was very clean, with nice towels, a modern bathroom, good air conditioning, and a comfortable bed. The pool and sunbeds were lovely, with shade available, and it was relaxing to listen to the cicadas. The patio doors opened onto the garden when it was cool enough. Town was less than a ten-minute walk away. The room was a bit small, and there was usually nobody at reception. The hair dryer was poor if you have long hair, and the shower-tub was open, without a curtain or door.

The hotel was just a few minutes’ walk from the heart of St Remy. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of parking. We also enjoyed the pool and sunbeds. The hospitality was very good, and the staff were helpful.

The location is handy, about five minutes from downtown, and the pool is nice with easy-access parking. But the price felt much too high for what we got, especially given the poor service. Wi-Fi was advertised, but it was an open network with a very slow, unreliable connection. It rarely worked when I tried, and was too weak for YouTube or uploading photos to Google Photos. There’s no fridge in the room. When I asked for an ice bucket and two glasses so we could drink wine we’d bought, staff said they expected guests to drink the wine sold at the hotel bar, and that ice would cost extra. They also refused the glasses. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels with bars and could still get ice and glasses as a guest. It’s a hotel before it’s a bar, right? The shower had almost no pressure. We could hear other guests opening and closing doors constantly, and when I asked for an extra pillow because we were short one, I never heard back.

We had a nice stay. The grounds were cared for, with a clean pool, comfortable sunbeds, and even a small gym. Parking was easy, secure, and included. Our room was very small and didn’t have a fridge. The Wi-Fi was slow, but usable. The ground-floor rooms seemed nicer and had little terraces. The place could use a more relaxed, service-minded atmosphere. We felt a bit as though we were bothering the hosts. Breakfast could be better too, especially the coffee and fruit.
