The owner’s reaction ruined what had been six lovely years at this holiday home. The last time we came, she yelled at us and was impossible to talk with. She said she doesn’t get along well with people, and that certainly showed. We won’t be returning. Also, on nice days the dog kennel starts barking a lot around 5 a.m.
Lonie the dog was an absolute sweetheart, and we still had a great time in the Dordogne. The setting is peaceful, and the house has the region’s typical style. But the owner lives across the street, with traffic going by throughout the day, and her welcome was very short and unfriendly. There was no inventory at check-in, with the expectation that we’d trust her, but the departure check was extremely thorough. The cottage sleeps eight, yet the washing machine was only allowed once a week, between 2 and 5 p.m. There’s a bathtub, but bathing is forbidden. The private pool was meant to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., though those hours weren’t followed every day, and it wasn’t cleaned while we were there. Cleanliness also needs work: grease, dust, mold, and smeared windowpanes. When we had a problem, like a power outage at 10 p.m., we were told not to call the owner, or we’d get a barrage of insults. After a very detailed checkout inventory, she contacted us again asking for €30 for a supposedly broken skylight opening bar, even though she had it in her hand just before we left.
The grounds are huge and fenced, and the facility is immaculate. We feel completely at ease leaving our dog in their care. The owner is a very kind person.
Everything is PERFECT! 😃👍 You can tell the young people looking after the field put a lot of passion into it.
