Hôtel au Pont de Raffiny

I arrived late without a reservation, looking for a bed for the night, and the hotel was officially closed. It seemed I might be out of luck, but after a few minutes they found me a bed. Their restaurant was shut too, so they sent me to another place a fair distance away, only for that to be closed as well. Back at the hotel I told the owner what happened, then went up to my room grateful for a bed and expecting to go without food until breakfast. To my surprise, his wife came by with dinner for me. They’re a perfect couple to run a hotel and know how to look after guests. I’ll always remember them fondly.

The fireplace and indoor fountain give the place a warm atmosphere, and the location in the middle of the Forez is wonderful. The local products are beautifully presented, especially the verveine and lentils from the city of Le Puy. French gastronomy at its best.

The restaurant was absolutely wonderful, and the lady at reception gave us a very welcoming greeting. Our room was spotless. We’d love to come back if we’re in the area again.

We had superb food and enjoyed the pool. It’s a lovely traditional Logis hotel in a wonderful spot, with nice rooms and a welcoming feel. Thank you.
