Domaine des Gendalis

We spent a lovely week here, with clean, comfortable, unusually spacious rooms for France, and quiet air conditioning. Owner Florian was a great host. The location also worked really well for visiting Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Orange, Gordes, Gigondas, and of course Avignon.

After a day wandering around Avignon, this is a lovely place to come back and unwind. The residence is small, green, and well cared for, about a 15-minute drive from the busy city. Rooms are on the small side but clean and tidy, with air conditioning and a minibar. The pool is large and clean, though the water is a bit cold. There's also a big hot tub for 4-5 people, free to use but by reservation. In the garden you'll find a little kitchen with a barbecue, a drying rack for towels and swimsuits, plenty of loungers and umbrellas, plus a bocce court, darts, and a ping-pong table. There’s ample free indoor parking. Breakfast is sweet, tasty, and filling. The savory option costs a small extra charge, to avoid waste. Florian gave us a very kind welcome and tips for local restaurants, including the excellent La Table Paysanne. Arrivals are from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, so let them know if you expect to be late. He is strict about the house rules, so read the PDF they send well ahead of time. :)

The room was spacious and clean, and we had a lovely pool and jacuzzi to enjoy after busy days in the heat 😉. Breakfast was good, too. Florian knows the region well and gave us great suggestions for exploring it. He’s so friendly, welcoming, and kind. The peaceful surroundings made it easy to recharge, and the pool and jacuzzi were a lovely bonus at any time of day. The guest room was immaculate. The manager was super friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout, and we felt right at home. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We’d gladly return!
