La Providence

It was lovely to arrive to a cottage that was already warm. The place was clean and pleasant, and it had everything we needed. I’d happily recommend it.

We slept really well on the excellent mattresses, and the air conditioning was quiet and worked perfectly. The room was spacious, clean, and welcoming. The host was friendly and served a generous, tasty breakfast with plums from the garden and local honey and jams. Afterwards, he introduced us to his llamas. You can pet and feed them, and they DON'T spit! The drive there is lovely too, through quiet countryside and sleepy villages. It’s very peaceful. For a nice stop, head to nearby Nolay and sit or eat in the charming square by the church.

The owners were so welcoming and friendly, and their guide is packed with useful information. The upstairs cottage opens onto the garden and has a barbecue and jacuzzi for relaxing. It’s in a great location, and the place itself is clean, quiet, and really comfortable. We’d gladly come back.

A car is needed to get here, though the owners might collect you if you arrive by train. They’re friendly, discreet, professional, and ready to help when needed. The house stays cool on hot days, and everything is supplied, from sheets and towels to the kitchen equipment and hairdryer. Breakfast is available for a small extra charge if you ask. There’s a terrace, but no proper garden for guests, and there are llamas in the garden. The location makes a great base for exploring the edge of the nature park. It’s just outside the park, between Autan and Beaune, with charming old villages and lovely scenery. There are lots of winemakers around, including on the street.
